New Releases: This Week In VR Fitness Games 12/4/17

Challenge yourself to a round of VR ping-pong and tennis, step out on the dancefloor, become a DC superhero, or practice your batting and catching skills with this week's new VR releases!

Virtual Sports

Play ping-pong on a tabletop or tennis on a full sized court. Use your Vive controller or your Vive Tracker Paddle for an immersive experience that will make you feel like you’re really playing on the court. Chat with opponents to taunt them or use it to spark a fire of competition when your friend hits the ball.

Fitness Potential

When using the controllers or the Vive compatible paddle, you can play against friends at home or with other gamers online. The player can also use Career Mode to play against other AI characters that teach you how to put some fire to your backspin and speed on your serve. Get a variety of gameplay with 8 environments, and level up your skills and stamina by playing Amateur, Master, and then Champion Leagues.

Light And Dance VR

It’s lit! Get your dancing shoes ready for this vibrantly glowing and ever-changing dance floor VR game and visualizer. Use your controllers to hit orbs as the music plays and rack up action points. The more orbs you hit the higher your score goes. The music visualizer mode gives you the option of free-dancing to mix things up. Use your controller as you dance to draw light trails in the air.

Fitness Potential

Light and Dance has a calorie burn tracker, so you can see how long you’ve been dancing and putting a torch to that pizza you ate for lunch. This whole body dance game is great for cardio because it keeps you moving and motivated with music. Simply start your favorite workout playlist from Youtube, Spotify, Google Play or music already stored on your computer and get on with your workout.

Justice League VR: The Complete Experience

Video Credit to: UploadVR via YouTube

If you ever wanted to be a superhero, now’s your chance! Join the Justice League crew on their mission to fight parademons (Wonder Woman), stop a time bomb (The Flash), kill an underwater sea creature (Aquaman), shoot down drones (Cyborg), race through the streets (Batman) and fly and shoot lasers (Superman).

Fitness Potential

To get the most physical benefit from this jack of all trades VR game, the player will have to skip Batman and Superman portions because they don’t involve dynamic movement. In order to get any physical benefit, play as Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Flash, or as Cyborg.

The sword and shield combat for Wonder Woman versus parademons has the best arm, core and leg experience out of the six, even if you’re teleporting to move around the game. The Flash game will give you an adequate arm and shoulder exercise as you pump your arms to run through tunnels, which doesn’t involve the lower body. Aquaman has an upper body conditioning element with his accelerated forward punch and trident slashing, while Cyborgs stage is a forward facing shooter that will work your arms as your legs get a workout from squatting to avoid lasers and drones.

Developer/Publisher: Warner Bros. Entertainment Group

Release Date: December 5, 2017

Compatible with: PlayStation VR, HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, with tracked controllers

Price: $9.99

VR Dream Match Baseball

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j3icEzo2i9M

Baseball fans will get to step up to the plate as batter or squat behind the plate as the catcher. The baseball field is an accurate depiction of what it would look like if you were playing with major league pros. Adjust the pitching speed to what you want to practice and keep your eye on the ball — try catching or hitting a ball flying towards you at 102 miles per hour!

Fitness Potential

Data nerds will love that you can see your catch and batting outcomes, as well as how far the ball you hit traveled. Swinging a baseball bat (a Vive Tracker enabled one) or controller will unevenly work your legs, forearms, chest, shoulders, and back; so you will want to compensate for that by either switching up the side you use to swing or working out those muscles using other games or exercises. Play the Firebatting Mode to get an endless stream of throws and chances to hit a home run and see fireworks go off.

Developer/Publisher: AOI Pro., Inc.

Release Date: December 6, 2017

Compatible with: HTC Vive with tracked controllers

Price: $13.99 to $19.99
