VR Fitness Game: Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Edition

What if Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 was a truly VR Fitness experience?

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is widely lauded as one of the best video games ever made. Available on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC, this title brought the first-person shooter genre to an entirely new level. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 debuted in 2009 and is still played by hardcore gamers today. The game produced $550 million in sales in its first week. Nearly five million copies of the game were sold in the United States and the United Kingdom within 24 hours of its release. In total, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has grossed over a billion dollars. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 scored a 94 on the popular Metacritic website, making it one of the highest rated video games in history.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is the fifth sequel to the series’ original title. It carries forward with the storyline of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 yet is considered the direct sequel to Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare 2. The game centers on Task Force 141. This special forces squad is led by Captain Soap MacTavish. Task Force 141 works with the United States Army Rangers to hunt the head of the Russian Ultranationalist party, Vladimir Makarov. Players control several different characters in the game. The main character is Task Force 141’s Gary “Roach” Sanderson. Another key playable character is James Ramirez, a sharpshooting Army Ranger. Captain MacTavish eventually becomes playable later in the game.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2‘s single player mode is quite captivating. Players progress through various battle campaigns involving plenty of blood, drama and of course, rapid-fire shooting. Players make use of traditional guns including sniper rifles, shotguns, assault rifles and handguns. Part of the game’s appeal lies in the fact that fairly basic weaponry is provided at the beginning of each level. Advanced guns are awarded as the player progresses through the rigors of combat. The game becomes incredibly addictive as new weaponry is accessed, especially guns with special attachments like heartbeat sensors and suppressors. All in all, 18 levels are available.  The game also features an indelible multiplayer mode with an abundance of new features and modes that were not included in the game’s previous editions. Multiplayer combat leaves one team standing after an epic deathmatch.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 in Virtual Reality

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 asks more of the game player than simple shooting. It requires the player to run, jump, crouch, crawl and aim with precision. This means the game would translate to virtual reality quite nicely, especially for gamers who seek an entertaining means of exercise. A VR version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 would be played from the first-person point of view just like the console/PC version of the game.

What is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 was a truly VR Fitness Experience?

There are few ventures in life that are more rigorous than being in the military and if this game were truly a VR Fitness experience, it’s pretty obvious that the gamer community would become the fittest group of people on the planet. The game’s intense action requires near-constant movement as the player hunts enemy forces. Motion tracking equipment would be necessary for a truly immersive VR experience. It is possible that a VR gun accessory would be made specifically for the game. Such a gun would function in unique ways depending on the firearm selected in-game.
