The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners was one of the first major virtual reality titles to arrive in 2020, and now, it seems poised to have one of the biggest updates of any VR game this summer.

Revealed today by developer and publisher Skydance Interactive, The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners is set to get a major free new content update across all platforms next month. This July 2020 add-on, which is being called The Meatgrinder Update, will most notably bring aboard a combat-focused mode which is entitled “The Trial.” In this mode, which is The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners’ equivalent to a horde mode, players will face-off against waves upon waves of zombies in the aim to get as high of a score as possible.

Skydance Interactive released a new trailer showing The Meatgrinder update for The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners which you can view right here:

If you’re unfamiliar with what horde mode is, it’s a popular feature that is can be found in many other video games on the market. The Trial just happens to be The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners’ take on the mode, and based on what we’ve seen so far, it looks pretty exciting. Every weapon from the main game will be at your disposal here in The Trial, meaning that to stay alive for the longest period of time, you’ll surely need to be proficient with all of them.

What’s perhaps most enticing about The Trial, especially for those who use VR to stay active, is that this game mode might very well be the most strenuous aspect of The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners moving forward. While Saints and Sinners isn’t pitched as a workout-focused title in the same way that games like Supernatural, Beat Saber, and others might be, the combat portions of the title have always forced you to move around quite a bit. To now have an entire game mode that is centered around the combat alone means that The Trial will surely lead to you breaking a sweat more often than not.

Lastly, Skydance also unveiled that next month’s update will also bring about a few other additional items, too. For those looking to revisit the campaign, new difficulty modes will also now be added to the game. Additionally, a new weapon skin for the katana is also coming as part of The Meatgrinder as well.

We still don’t know exactly within the month of July that this free update will be dropping, but considering how close we are to this window, we should be hearing a whole lot more soon. Until then, you can pick up the base game of The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners on either the PlayStation Store, Steam, or the Oculus Store for a baseline price of $39.99.
